True to its vision and cutting edge approach to working with communities, Landex Development’s October 27th opening of Studio 3807 was a celebration of the Gateway Arts District community and its accomplished artists.
Peter Siegel, CEO of Landex Development, began his remarks by welcoming guests to an artist reception. “This is an artist reception. A chance for you to explore the building, meet our construction and design team, view and interact with the artists whose original work is proudly and beautifully displayed throughout the building, visit Portico Gallery and Studios and see the artists who are working there. We invite you to taste the food and drink of our food hall, Savor at Studio 3807, which will be coming in the 2019. In other words, we want you to experience what we have created here in much the same way the neighborhood and our residents will experience Studio 3807.”
Guests were then treated to a unique tour of the building including the Studio 3807 Collection, a permanent display of work by local artists and they were able to see first hand the culmination of the efforts by Landex Development, Prince Georges County, Gateway Arts District community members and the town of Brentwood, MD.
The vision of creating a physical space in which people are encouraged to meet, communicate and explore ideas was experienced firsthand by the more than 100 attendees. Special guests included County Councilwoman Deni Taveras; Monty Cooper, Executive Director of the County Redevelopment Authority; Victor Olano, Vice Mayor of Brentwood, Brentwood Council member Tonya Harrison, outgoing State Delegate Jimmy Tarlau and incoming State Delegate, Diane Fennell and members of the Gateway Arts District.
The building, which is now more than 55% leased, was designed by Grimm and Parker, Soltesz and RD Jones. Studio 3807 was built by Hamel Builders and is managed by Winn Residential.
Located at 3807 Rhode Island Avenue in Brentwood, MD, the building is a mixed-use development including 147 apartments, 6,300 square feet of retail space and 3,000 square feet of artist studio space and it has been designed and constructed to meet the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold standard, one of the highest LEED standards available. Floorplan options include studio, one and two bedroom apartments and three bedroom townhomes.
